Does the patch actually increase game performance??

JCposted - Dec, 13 2003 - 09:29
Does the patch make the crappy story re-hash from the original Deus Ex and the dull/boring gameplay better?

CrazySpoonposted - Dec, 13 2003 - 10:02
This game does NOT support Windows XP even though it says it on the box. Don't believe me? Call Eidos support and they have a recorded message saying it doesn't. Amazing, last I checked there were a few people on the planet that had WinXP installed as their OS. But I guess that doesn't matter to Eidos and Warren Spector

stumpusposted - Dec, 13 2003 - 10:32
LOL it *doesn't* support the PC never mind WinXP!! It's made for the XBox and dragged onto the PC fighting and throwing fits (Ion hoped it would port over without a struggle....how wrong...) The result is it looks like your playing on a P200 and miopic vision -the graphics and frame rate is rediculous. The bugs in this are just bollocks, Players have hit benches and plant pots and they BLEED!!! I can't wait to not get this..........

First, I have played this on Windows XP fine (not to say anything about support though). Second, the game is not as buggy for me as people are saying - I ran into a few annoying things in the physics but that's it. However, that doesn't really make up for only semi-interesting plot, and their stupid idea to have many choices along the way (that don't seem to change what happens anyways). Anyways, enough biatching for now...

JC DENTON WOULD NOT APROVE THIS NEW DX 2(THATS WHY HE DOESN'T APPEAR IN THE GAME, HE IS PISSED OFF BY THIS CHEWING GUM GAME) . ITS CLEAR BY NOW THAT THE GAME WAS SIMPLIFIED FOR CONSOLE USERS. ION STORM TOKE OUT ALL THE GREAT THINGS(RPG ELEMENTS)THAT MADE DX AN EPIC GAME AND TRANSFORMED THEM INTO ACTION FPS. DX 2 SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHAT BALDURS GATE 2 WAS TO THE FIRST BG1, THE FOLLOWING OF AN EPIC QUEST. DX 1 (PC) WAS A MATURE GAME NOW DX2 (CONSOLE) IS A TEENAGERS GAME THAT DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE HISTORY, AND DONT UNDERSTAND IT EITHER. FROM THE GAMEPLAY TO THE GAME ARGUMENT ITS ALL FALLING APART. FOR THIS, IT WOULD BEM BETTER NOT RELEASE IT. WE WANTED EQUAL, IF NOT BETTER, BUT NEVER WORSE LIKE THIS IS. THE TITLE OF DX2 IS CORRECT. DEUS EX IS INVISIBLE IN THIS GAME. THIS IS NOT A DEUS EX GAME. GREAT SORROW THAT I WAITED FOR 3 YEARS FOR THE SEQUEL OF ONE OF ALL TIME GREATEST GAMES TO SEE IT DESECRATED LIKE THIS. HAVENT TRIED THE PATCH YET. BUT IT WONT CHANGE THE CORE PROBLEM- GAMEPLAY AND STORY. SO MUCH FUZZ FOR THE GRAPHICS AND LIGHTINING( THAT ARENT THAT GREAT CAUSE ITS HARD TO PLAY ABOVE 800X600. DEUS EX WAS A KING MURDERED BY ITS OWN SON DX2. WHAT WENT OVER HARVEY AND WARREN MIND?

I played it, on WinXP Pro, but I wasn't impressed with the game at all... mainly the mouse control is really crappy... sort of comparable to Judge Dredd: Dread Vs Death. The mouse just isn't smooth and that is quite annoying. I played it for about two hours (crappy story) and then uninstalled it. I had no performance troubles like I'v heard about. System specs: P4 2.8c Ghz 512mb DDR 3200 ATI Radeon 9500 Pro (3.7 catalysts) the game got a bit laggy when turning 6x AA on

someoneposted - Dec, 14 2003 - 09:54
the mouse lag can be turned off by editing the .ini files, so can the blur (i think). Atleast thats what it says on the ion storm forums. If it is as bad as youre all saying ill save myself ?35 and get something else :(

1.1 Pixel Shader? i have a Geforce 4MX, anyone know how to get a 1.1 Pixel Shader so this game will work?

Slyposted - Dec, 15 2003 - 02:36
I installed it, ran it, quit, checked my video settings, went back in, checked the game settings, sighed, tried it anyway, five minutes later, i uninstalled it. And i haven't even left the first hallway yet. I can set max out the quality settings of all my other games (Which are nothing to scoff at) and they still play great. This is the first game that my machine couldn't handle at minimum settings! I feel like the time i tried playing quake on my 486! @Unknown I have a GF4Ti4200, GF4MX is crap. You were better off getting a GF3.

ANF the king-posted - Dec, 15 2003 - 09:11
the game runs better with the patch plus the new forceware drivers 53.. im running in a gf4 ti. the graphics look better and the patch corrects the laggy mouse problem. the gameplay problem is that the maps are very small in the dx2 constant loading when you need to go from place a to place b,, cause they were made for x box. in dx1 they were much bigger, cause pc handles much bigger maps and pc had more npcs capacity. the game story gets better to the end of the game. dx2 isnt a masterpice like the first, but we can see some dx elements in it.

xxxposted - Dec, 16 2003 - 15:50
graphics look better. Hahahaha. Ok Mr NanoVision boy.. lol. the game sucks and they totally destroyed Deus Ex in the process. I agree with the guy that said JC Denton don't appear in the game cuz it sucks. You are so bloody right! What a way to blow a game!

JImmyposted - Dec, 28 2003 - 19:41
That how it goes when greed goes over doing the right thing i dont know why they had to doit (destroying such precios heritage)just to make the game for the stupid console.Because of Money i guess. Shame on you peopl shame on you
