Ubisoft is Revoking Far Cry 4 CD-Keys - briefly
(hx) 02:01 AM EST - Jan,28 2015 - Post a comment / read (3)
Buying CD-keys from third-party re-sellers (IE: anywhere other than Steam/uPlay/Origin or a retail store) always comes with an inherent risk, just as buying anything on eBay. However, once you've paid for the key, had your game client accept it, and are able to boot up the game, you wouldn't really expect for it to be suddenly taken away. Well, if you bought a copy of Far Cry 4 from a re-seller such as G2A or Kinguin (#1, #2), that may be exactly what is about to happen. Ubisoft has released an official statement to Game Informer confirming earlier forum reports of users having their games removed from their libraries. "We regularly deactivate keys that were fraudulently obtained and resold," said the representative, adding "In this case, we are currently investigating the origin of the fraud and will update customers when we have more information to share. In the meantime customers should contact the vendor from whom they purchased their key." G2A, one of the other re-sellers involved in this situation, released the following statement via Facebook:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT ABOUT THE UBISOFT SITUATION

As some of you may already know, steps have been taken to remove games purchased indirectly from a publisher, via main marketplaces in the web. G2A.COM is not in any case responsible for any of these procedures. However, we are well aware of this process and will do everything possible to compensate for that.

For users who have made transactions without G2A Shield, we will check if the corresponding merchant was responsible for the withdrawal of the code. If so, these users will get a compensation. Any user who used G2A Shield affected by the current process will get either a new code for the game or the money back. G2A.COM will make every possible exertion to prevent this kind of procedures in the future and exclude merchants responsible for such incidents from the marketplace.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Lady Hammerlock - briefly
(hx) 11:20 AM EST - Jan,27 2015 - Post a comment
If you've been playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and are eagerly awaiting the next playable character from Gearbox Software and 2K Australia, then fear not, your wait is almost over. The developer announced during this weekend's PAX South convention that the next playable character, Lady Aurelia the Baroness, will be available to download tomorrow, January 27. Better known as Lady Hammerlock, Aurelia is the sister to everyone's favorite adventurer, Sir Hammerlock:
Aurelia is the heir of the Hammerlock family fortune, but when she's not riding her hoverbike through the endless hallways of her orbital turbomansion, she's out hunting the latest and greatest game in the galaxy. If these expeditions should put her in conflict with her younger brother Alistair – aka Sir Hammerlock – all the better. The only thing more fun than shooting a rare animal Alistair intended to study is the look of abject horror and surprise on his face once Aurelia wears its carcass like a jaunty scarf. bR>
Normally, Lady Hammerlock would never be seen within a light year of Pandora, but she's grown bored as her turbomansion grows cold, while her lust for violence grows hot. She's headed to Elpis with nothing more than an expensive gun, an experimental Cryo diadem, and a powerful belief that shooting angry things in the face is a good deal of fun.
The Lady Hammerlock Pack is part of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s Season Pass, but it can also be purchased separately for $9.9

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt includes 16 free DLC packs - briefly
(hx) 01:34 AM EST - Jan,27 2015 - Post a comment / read (3)
Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that all players will receive 16 free DLC packs following the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in February of 2015. The first bit of DLC is said to contain two pieces of content - the Temerian Armor Set and a Beard and Hairstyle Set for Gerald - and will release on February 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A new bundle of DLC will launch every week following the game’s release free of charge.
We love games. We love collecting them, playing them, and everything connected to that experience. Every time we reach out for a new release, we expect to be taken care of. We expect support if we encounter any problems, we love updates constantly improving the experience, and we feel really special when we receive free content that gives us more than we initially paid for. It doesn't have to be huge, it can be an awesome skin for a character, or an extra sword, or armour.

Unfortunately this treatment is quite rare these days. As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached. Haven't we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game?

As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently. Cutting to the chase, everyone who buys Wild Hunt will receive 16 specially prepared DLCs absolutely for free, regardless of platform. You don't have to pre-order, you don't have to buy any special edition to get them - if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they’re yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game.
In addition, journalists from all over the world had a chance to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt during global hands-on events for the very first time. This resulted in a delicate smattering of hands-on previews that can be found on Shacknews, Kotaku, Metro News, NZGamer.com, ComingSoon.net, The Escapist, Flickering Myth, GameSpot, Only Single Player, Paste, PCWorld, .

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases February 24 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. To pre-order The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com with tons of bonus content simply go here.

Max helps Chloe to look for her missing friend, named Rachel Amber. Max finally determine the ability of Chloe that could distort time. Homeworld Remastered Collection updates and introduces the landmark space strategy games to modern audiences. The collection includes Homeworld and Homeworld 2, painstakingly remastered by Gearbox in cooperation with key members of the original development team and members of the series’ passionate fan community. As a free bonus, this collection also includes the original versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 with compatibility updates, preserving the purest form of the original releases. Anyone who purchases Homeworld Remastered Collection will also receive free access to the Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta when the collection releases on February 25, 2015.

The Homeworld series has a long legacy and is regarded by many as one of the best strategy series of all time. Following its release in 1999 by publisher Sierra and developer Relic Entertainment, Homeworld received several Game of the Year awards and redefined the RTS genre. Its sequel, Homeworld 2, launched in 2003, and was similarly praised by critics for its innovative controls and changes to multiplayer. Brian Martel, Gearbox Software's Chief Creative Officer, has great love and respect for Relic's brilliant, fun and innovative franchise and personally spearheaded Gearbox Software’s acquisition of Homeworld from THQ in 2013.

The first-ever gameplay footage – shown this weekend to a packed room at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio and available here on YouTube – highlights the extensive effort that has gone into updating the games for modern audiences. Homeworld Remastered Collection refreshes these tremendous games with new, high-resolution textures and models, the latest graphics-rendering technology, as well as a fully remastered score and new voice recordings from the original cast.

Gamers who purchase Homeworld Remastered Collection will also receive access to the Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta, which kicks off alongside Homeworld Remastered Collection on February 25, 2015. Competitive multiplayer modes for Homeworld and Homeworld 2 have been joined to offer players access to races, maps and game modes from both games in one integrated multiplayer experience. This beta combines code from over 15 years ago with newly-written changes, and will be shaped by fan feedback as development progresses.
NVIDIA Issues Official Statement Regarding GTX970 - tech
(hx) 01:50 PM EST - Jan,25 2015 - Post a comment
After the whole controversy surrounding GTX970's VRAM usage, NVIDIA went ahead and made an official statement regarding this issue.
The GeForce GTX 970 is equipped with 4GB of dedicated graphics memory. However the 970 has a different configuration of SMs than the 980, and fewer crossbar resources to the memory system. To optimally manage memory traffic in this configuration, we segment graphics memory into a 3.5GB section and a 0.5GB section. The GPU has higher priority access to the 3.5GB section. When a game needs less than 3.5GB of video memory per draw command then it will only access the first partition, and 3rd party applications that measure memory usage will report 3.5GB of memory in use on GTX 970, but may report more for GTX 980 if there is more memory used by other commands. When a game requires more than 3.5GB of memory then we use both segments.

We understand there have been some questions about how the GTX 970 will perform when it accesses the 0.5GB memory segment. The best way to test that is to look at game performance. Compare a GTX 980 to a 970 on a game that uses less than 3.5GB. Then turn up the settings so the game needs more than 3.5GB and compare 980 and 970 performance again
